With Konami releasing Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 roughly a week earlier and competition heating up, EA Sports chose to retool its FIFA series before stepping back onto the virtual pitch. Based on what we learned, FIFA 16 will have the star power necessary to compete in the race to become the premier football game, with a variety of new features that go beyond the biggest news, the inclusion of 12 Women’s National Teams with players Steph Houghton, Alex Morgan and Christine Sinclair appearing for the first time. The first thing you should do is select a difficulty level that matches your skill. You'll need to win a four-game series, with each game increasing more difficult than the last. If you want to earn the big prizes, you'll need to win all four games in the series, so make sure you select a difficulty befitting of your skill level.
Once you've selected the appropriate difficulty level, it's time to choose a formation. If you're new to
FIFA Ultimate Team, it may not be a good idea to select an obscure formation. Keep it simple and pick a formation that's more straightforward, such as a 4-3-3. This kind of formation will allow you to use star players to the best of their abilities during the draft. FIFA Ultimate Team is all about securing the best fifa 16 players and assets to earn huge rewards. Similar to other modes in FUT, you must strongly consider the difficulty before entering Team of the Week. Depending on the difficulty you’ll pay a different entry fee. Weaker difficulties cost 100 coins or less, while the expert AI require thousands. Naturally, the tougher the challenge the sweeter the reward, but there’s also the chance you’ll catch a beat down from what is essentially an all-star team.
Sure, some of the players may stand in the shadows of guys like Messi and Ronaldo, but Team of the Week represents a balance between the cream of the proverbial crop and players who did awesome stuff in those seven days, regardless of popularity. Thankfully should you lose, FIFA will reimburse the entry fee in various participation trophies (yes, an award for trying) and match bonuses. If you’re confident in your skills and have thousands of coins to spend, go for it. Look, we love watching all-star teams compete at the highest level, but chemistry wins championships; and defense, apparently. In fact, the developers of FIFA intentionally punish FUT players for haphazardly creating super squads. That said, we have everything you need to know about chemistry and Hybrid Teams in FIFA 16.
First and most importantly, always put players in their natural positions to maximize chemistry. There’s no reason to be a mad scientist or GM, thinking the key to unlocking your FUT team is to build some strange mash-up. Moving someone to a different position may cap the chemistry level of you team. With so much emphasis on the offensive game, EA Sports knew the defense required tweaking. Swing Steps let players quickly close open gaps on the pitch; the idea is to clog up the passing lanes and intercept the ball. In fact, FIFA players can’t rely on the fastest superstars to dominate. Even someone like Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale won’t be able to run wherever he wants. The defensive AI will sense when an offensive player breaks free and cut him or her off.
Remember football is a team game. Be on the lookout for fellow teammates when on the attack. Sure, you may occasionally pull off a goal from range, but identifying open and/or streaking teammates on the pitch may produce superior angles and chances to send the ball to areas of the net the keeper cannot reach. Use FIFA 16’s Passing with Purpose feature by pressing R1 or RB when moving across the box. This will let you take advantage of wide openings.
