The first being an away tie in the Champions League where in my final group game I faced Standard Liege. I’d already qualified, but they needed a win to be in with a shot at qualification. I think Channon is distracted, or letting me win.

When the 63rd minute came around the commentary team mentioned the need for a Liege win and also directly discussed a change in their attacking focus. From this point onwards Liege essentially switched to a 4-2-4 formation, for which they added relevant subs to complement. But crucially they also switched their play style, adopting a much more direct approach where they regularly launched long balls from deep in to my 18 yard area.

When your goalie has the ball, he now can tell your team to move further down the field and get ready to receive a big boot toward the other team’s goal.  This is another great feature in FIFA 15.  While your goalie is holding the ball, tap the RB/R1 button on the controller to have your goalie motion to you team to move up.  This is a great tactic to take if you are down a goal and time is getting short.



If you're on goal and one-on-one with a keeper, it's not uncommon to see him initially rush out from between the posts and attack, only to decide that it's a bad idea and hightail it back to his line. Similarly, running out from the goal to punch or catch the ball from a corner results in lots of backtracking when a keeper realizes that either a friendly defender or opposition attacker is going to get to it first.

However, when the camera zooms in on players during goal celebrations, the animations are still as awkwardly robotic as ever. Arms continue to pass through players’ bodies while they hug each other after a job well done, and their facial expressions are creepily static. It’s not a glaring issue, but it’s one that has troubled the overall presentation of the FIFA series for as long as I can remember, and a problem that continues to persist in this game.
