Coins, on the other hand, cannot be carried over to FIFA 16, as well as the cards that you bought. Not only that, you can now also kiss goodbye to all the staff, consumables, and club items you have right now as you are not bringing them with you. No matter how helpful the items that you bought in the EASFC Catalogue in the previous game, they cannot be carried over when you move on to FIFA 16. That’s because the catalogue varies from one FIFA game to the next. You can just hope that the upcoming game will have way more awesome items in them.
So what about in practice? Are you likely to notice a real difference between scouting in Brazil and scouting in Saudi Arabia? I did some testing to find out. This left me with 7 Saudi Arabian players and 9 Brazilian players. The lowest potential Saudi player had a range of 73-81 and the highest Saudi player had 82-88. The lowest potential Brazilian player had 75-81 potential and the highest Brazilian player had 79-89. So while in theory Brazil has a much better chance of finding high potential players, in practice you may not notice it. I found almost as many high potential players in Saudi Arabia (supposedly one of the worst places to scout) as in Brazil, just from picking the best players in each report - I didn’t reload any reports.
The real decision making starts as soon as you open the FIFA packs. Remember that your decisions will have consequences especially when minimal conditions were given for you so start a club and make it successful. Decisions made during this time can have long-term results, thus, be very careful. If for example, you have already sold rally good cards at the beginning, you still have to find more opportunities to get more coins as this is what can help you grow in the game really fast. What you should start first is to get coin boosts at the EASFC catalog by exchanging them from your credits. Apply the coin boost to your first match, so that you can get ample bonus for your clubs budget. As long as you XP level can afford it, buy as much items as you can as they can only be redeemed once, until they expire.
You need to set the work rate for both Defense and Attack to ‘High’ for them to acquire Engine as well as about 85 Stamina. Having this Specialty will ensure that your player doesn’t run out of stamina while looking after both offense and defense in the game. For this, your player simply needs 80 Curve and 86 Crossing in the game. With this, your players will not only catch defenders off-guard, but will be making some accurate crosses throughout the match. This Specialty requires 86 Free Kicks and about 85 of either Curve or Shot Power. Having this Specialty may even allow your players to score from about 35 yards in the game.
This may actually be my favorite new feature. If you press R3 during play, the game brings up a “contextual overlay system” above the player you are controlling, providing a selection of possible moves. If you’re just dribbling the ball in your own half, it’ll probably just suggest short or long passes, together with the relevant button, but once in the opponent’s territory it’ll bring up a range of attacking options. There are several levels of advice to select from, so intermediate and experienced players can get more complex pointers, including tougher skill moves. “It just helps people get more out of the game. I mean, half the people on our own team didn’t know about bounce pass!”
Elevating the importance of the midfield is also accompanied by new modifiers which allow players to be much more potent. Hold down R1/RB in FIFA 16 and the subsequent pass will carry additional power. It’s like a through ball but with much more purpose. It’s not an easy thing to execute, and used in the wrong situation it’s really easy to put the ball out of play. But used just right, it’s the ball that can truly destroy a well-marshalled defence.
